Curious about any of our activities? Here is a description of some of the things you’ll see on our calendar:
The Hunt’s Praise Band leads the congregational worship for the 8:30am Contemporary Worship Service with guitars, drums, bass, keyboards and voices to upbeat contemporary praise and worship songs. Please reach out if you’d like to know about this Sunday’s services! The Contemporary Worship Service is an informal time of singing praise and worship songs, prayer, hearing, and reflecting on God’s Word, and timely messages for daily living and spiritual growth. Casual dress is welcome.
The Traditional Worship Service combines the use of traditional prayers and liturgy with scripture, powerful faith-based messages for daily living, a wonderful music program, combining the talents of Hunt’s Chancel Choir with favorite hymns and songs.
The Funhunters is a group of church members who gather monthly, usually on the second Friday of the month, to lunch together at various restaurants around town. Conversation and comradely make for an interesting afternoon of socializing with church friends. If you’re interested in adding a little fun to your regular routine, join the Funhunters on the group’s next excursion.
Mulligans for Missions
Hunt’s Church Missions Committee hosts an annual golf tournament as their primary fundraiser for missions projects. The tournament is open to everyone and individual holes can be sponsored by individuals or organizations. For the past several years, the tournament has been held at Oakmont Green Golf Course in Hampstead, MD. Tournament prizes are awarded to foursomes for low gross, low net, closest to the pin, and the furthest drive.
Vacation Bible School
Every year, Hunt’s holds Vacation Bible School in June or July. Open to children of church members, as well as children in the community, VBS focuses on a religious theme that encourages children to understand the place of God in their lives.
Movies Under the Stars
During the summer months, Hunt’s Church occasionally offers free movie nights to church members and the community. Movies are geared to families and children of all ages. The event is combined with a picnic, usually with hot dogs, chips, and beverages.
This year’s Turkey Dinner, Hunt’s Church largest and most successful event of the year, is being planned for Saturday, November 5 from 4-7pm. The Annual Turkey Dinner serves a delicious Pre-Thanksgiving dinner to over 500 people. The church welcomes everyone from surrounding communities to attend the family-style, sit-down dinner with family and friends, or to purchase dinners for carry-out. In addition, a number of carry-out meals are donated and sent to homeless shelters in Baltimore.
A tradition for over 50 years, the Hunt’s Senior High Group leads an annual worship service each spring. This joyful and spirit-filled worship service is based on a selected theme. In preparation for the service, all members of the group write about their experiences, and the graduating seniors share their meditations with the congregation. Many of the songs and hymns are contemporary or adapted for the service’s theme. The end of the service reunites alumni in a celebratory song followed by fellowship.
